Note: If you would like to work as a Security Guard in the UK, then this course is for you. When you complete this course, you will be able to apply for Security Guard roles in the Security Industry. It is important to be aware that with this qualification you will not be allowed to work as a Door Supervisor because the physical intervention unit is not taught on this course.

Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations within the Private Security Industry (Public Space Surveillance)

According to the British Security Industry Authority (BSIA), the UK has an estimated 5.9 million CCTV cameras. The need for CCTV and CCTV Operators is dramatically on the rise and the need for quality Closed Circuit Television training is widespread. This SIA recognised three-day course is designed to teach you how to assist companies with their CCTV, as well as train you to be a proactive CCTV Operator.

This accredited qualification, Level 2 Award in CCTV Operations within the Private Security Industry (Public Space Surveillance) (QCF),  is ideal for anyone wishing to work as a CCTV operator as it provides the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for an SIA licence in this field. Subjects covered include roles and responsibilities of CCTV operators, codes of practice, operational procedures and guidelines, legislation relevant to the role, CCTV equipment and operation and surveillance techniques.

 

A CCTV Control Room is used for the practical element so you will be monitoring real people in real-time. You will also receive a training/work  book, which is yours to keep and a great reference tool.

The course is divided into 3 units and is assessed through 2 multiple-choice examinations and a practical test. These units are as follows:

1: Working within the Private Security Industry

Assessed by a 1 hour, 40 question multiple-choice examination. Candidates must achieve a score of at least 28 out of 40 to pass this unit.

2: Working as a CCTV Operator within the Private Security Industry

Assessed by a 75 minute, 45 question multiple-choice examination. Candidates must achieve a score of at least 32 out of 45 to pass this unit.

3: Practical Operation of CCTV Equipment within the Private Security Industry

Assessed by the tutor and externally moderated the awarding organisation to pass this unit.
