This accredited qualification is intended for those who assess both occupational competence in the work environment and vocational skills, knowledge and understanding in environments other than the workplace (for example a workshop, classroom or other training environment).
With many parts of this course being available you are required to attend a couple of days of workshops a within the course.

What is the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement?
This course enables the student to understand how to assess competence in the work environment as well as teaching them the practices and principles of assessment. The course is intended for anyone who assesses progress in their work environment such as in schools, and offices.


Course Length
We facilitate the course online through an e-learning portal which allows you to work through the course at your own pace; with easy access to tutors and the helpdesk to ease your progression.

What is involved?
There are 3 mandatory units in the Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement. These are:
– Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
– Assess Occupational Competence in the Work Environment
– Assess Vocational Skills, Knowledge and Understanding

It is supported learning with access to a tutor daily, 48hr feedback responses and full course information provided on your e-learning portal.
There are on-site assessments involved in this course, and we are fully flexible in facilitating these to your preference.

Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice

This qualification is suitable for you if you wish to obtain the Internal Verifier / Moderator role and quality assure assessors and assessment.

The Level 4 Award (previously V1 award) in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice (IQA) is a 12 credit and 90 guided learning hour qualification consisting of 2 mandatory units. (Identified in the Course Structure.)
This qualification replaces the V1. It is part of the new suite of qualifications for assessors, internal quality assurers (IQA).
This qualification is required for:
Verifiers involved in National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) for the next three years. Those who deliver these qualifications will need to be qualified to meet the requirements of the NVQ Code of Practice and Sector Skills Councils assessment strategies.


Quality assurance staff who deliver QCF qualifications that use the term ‘NVQ’ in their title will also need these qualifications.
Some staff, who are quality assuring qualifications within the QCF framework that do not use the term ‘NVQ’ in their titles, but whose purpose is to confirm occupational competence, will need to hold this IQA qualification.
This qualification will be helpful for teachers in schools who deliver vocational qualifications with applied learning, such as BTEC Firsts and Nationals.

Course Structure
Unit 1: Understanding Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment which provides the opportunity to relate underpinning knowledge and understanding to practice of internal quality assurance. Sharing knowledge and experience with peers and colleagues provides an opportunity both to share good practice and to reflect on assessment approaches.
Unit 2: This unit will give you the opportunity to apply the principles and requirements of internal quality assurance to a real working context and identify ways in which to develop and improve your practice.
Assessment should focus on real work activities so that naturally occurring evidence can be assessed.


The range of direct evidence MUST include:

  • monitoring of a minimum of TWO assessors

  • assessment of a minimum of TWO candidates per assessor

  • observation of practice

  • examination of products of work

  • questioning

These can be supplemented, where necessary, with professional discussion, reflective accounts or witness statements.

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training

The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a requirement for anyone looking to work in a Teaching role in an associate position. This role carries less responsibility than that of a full teaching role. It is a nationally recognised qualification which allows you to progress onto the Level 5 Diploma, bringing you closer to being able to gain your QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills).

Who is it for?

Teachers, tutors, trainers, lecturers and instructors who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider.

Those delivering work-based training such as within voluntary, community, private and public organisations.
Those who want a medium size teaching qualification

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Relevant vocational / academic qualification (a Level 3 or above)
30 hrs of teaching practice (paid or voluntary, to take place during the course)
A good level of English (level 2 equivalent)
Competent IT skills

What does it involve?

The duration of the course is approximately 3-6 months. Students will be required to have access to 30 hours of teaching practice whilst on the course, if you have done any teaching in the past 3 months we may be able to take this into consideration. You will be observed for 1 hour during the course on three separate occasions, we can come to your location for these at no extra cost. Alternatively you can be observed by one of your colleagues as long as they are suitably qualified. There are 6 units within this course as follows;
